Recently i had been involve with bike sharing company ofo and obike in opening the service to the public of Phuket. The project was not that easy for the local official and government to be understanding on the concept and the benefit. After more than 3-4 months of negotiation the project had been granted the permission to lunch project in Phuket.
The process of dealing with government was not that easy at the beginning deal to the lack of product understanding and local law that need to be apply. Additional to the lack of government and official the business owner seem to be ignoring the benefit of bike sharing.
The lunching of the project on 20 September was a very successful as the business owner and local government come together to have the same understanding.The bike sharing operator ofo and obike receive a good response as the currently both operator receive up to 1300 – 1500 trip per day and growing.
For me personally as i working as part of Project Management and Share holder of the Phuket City Development company. I feel that the bike sharing is the starting of how the smart city should be as the bike can be solve the problem of the transportation and there are the data that can be help to plan the public transport.
